You will leverage your interpersonal strengths and established network to generate new business opportunities while managing a portfolio of existing clients. Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in finance, commerce, or a related field will provide a solid foundation.
  • Up to 3 years of experience in a financial institution, or a relevant field will drive your success.
  • A well-established network in Durham’s business community.
  • An ability to identify business issues and needs will be crucial in supporting entrepreneurs.
  • A collaborative nature and organizational skills will help you build effective and lasting relationships with peers, business contacts, and external partners.
  • Exceptional negotiation skills, and a purposeful approach.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English will enable you to communicate effectively.
  • You have a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.

Responsibilities

  • Connect with entrepreneurs, clients, and prospects to understand their business needs, offer guidance, and explore if BDC services can support their goals.
  • Implement the Business Centre's action plan by fostering growth and retention of current clients, while welcoming new ones, and building a pipeline of business opportunities.
  • Review and present financing proposals with thoughtful credit judgment.
  • Engage with the local business community by participating in various networking events within the Region of Durham.
