About The Position
The Senior Catering Captain supervises Catering Department employees and prepares and serves food at functions under the supervision of the Catering Director. The role may include driving a truck to deliver food and beverages to catered functions. The position is based at Takeda, 55 Hayden Avenue, Lexington, Massachusetts, and follows a full-time Monday–Friday schedule with hours that may vary.
Requirements
- Experience with CaterTrax, catering setups, and large-scale event coordination.
- A valid driver's license may be required.
- Must possess or be able to obtain a valid food handler's permit and/or alcohol servers permit where required by state law.
Responsibilities
- Supervise employees in the Catering Department.
- Assist in the performance appraisal process.
- Determine workload requirements from catering orders.
- Meet with function group leaders to discuss setup arrangements, address last-minute changes, and resolve problems.
- Assemble and deliver food and supplies to scheduled catering functions.
- Return food, beverages, serving equipment, and utensils to the catering facility.
- Distribute and collect customer comment cards at catered functions.
- Ensure proper presentation, portion control, and serving temperatures.
- Maintain sanitation and orderliness of equipment, supplies, and utensils within the work area.
- Clean equipment in a timely fashion and thoroughly clean the workstation before leaving for other assignments.
- Interact with customers and resolve complaints in a friendly, service-oriented manner; relay relevant customer concerns to the supervisor.
- Follow sanitation and safety principles when handling food and equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
