About The Position
Western National is seeking a Senior Casualty Claims Representative to join our team! The individual in this role will have the opportunity to investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and resolve multi-line insurance claims as assigned.
Requirements
- Strong understanding of industry practices, standards, and claims concepts.
- Prior claims experience with a strong preference for commercial lines claims experience.
- Ability to multitask and solve problems.
- Proficient oral and written communication skills.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in lieu of degree acceptable.

Responsibilities
- Handles moderate to high complexity claims within settlement authority.
- Ensures customer service excellence.
- Investigates and reviews policy forms, facts, and documents related to claims to make appropriate decisions on claims resolution, and recognizes claim file exposures and escalates appropriately.
- Establishes and reviews proper reserves for each claim based upon thorough investigation, evaluation, and experience.
- Maintains appropriate reports to ensure the status of claims is clearly documented.
- Provides direction to outside resources.
- Acts as a resource to other members of the team.
- Makes well-reasoned recommendations to management on claim plan of action.
- Recognizes problems or situations that are new or without clear precedent and makes recommendations to solve problems.
- Finds solutions using a systematic, multi-step approach.
- Develops improvements and innovations to enhance performance.
- Conducts regular contact with customers (insureds, claimants, agents) as well as regular contact with employees across the organization.
- Conducts regular contact with outside vendors.
- Performs special projects and other duties as assigned.
