About The Position

We are looking for a friendly, motivated person to join our team as a Senior Business Outreach Specialist! In this role, you will help local businesses learn about energy‑saving tools, HVAC upgrades, lighting improvements, and other ways to save money and use less energy. You will work closely with customers and Trade Allies (contractors we partner with) to guide them through programs, connect them with the right support, and help them complete their projects. This role serves commercial and industrial customers in Indianapolis, Indiana, with frequent travel across Marion County.

Requirements

  • Soft Skills – 2-4 years Strong relationship builder – enjoys meeting people and building trust.
  • Self‑starter with a high motor – likes to take action and get things done.
  • Comfortable hearing “no” – confident approaching new people and new businesses.
  • Clear communicator – able to explain programs in a simple, friendly way.
  • Organized and reliable – follows up and keeps details on track.
  • Collaborative – works well with coworkers, Trade Allies, and customers.
  • Ability to use a CRM system such as Salesforce to track outreach work.
  • Basic computer skills (email, video meetings, data entry).
  • Able to learn new tools and processes with support.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with HVAC, lighting, or energy‑saving equipment.
  • A background in commercial or industrial environments (warehouses, manufacturing, facilities, etc.).
  • Comfort talking about simple building upgrades like LEDs or basic HVAC improvements.
  • Prior experience with business outreach, field visits, or program support.

Responsibilities

  • Build strong, positive relationships with contractors, HVAC partners, and other Trade Allies.
  • Meet with local businesses to share program information and help them find ways to save energy.
  • Connect customers with the right Trade Allies for their projects—acting as the “matchmaker” between the need and the solution.
  • Look for new outreach opportunities by visiting businesses, calling on new leads, and keeping up with what is happening in the area.
  • Help Trade Allies understand new tools, incentives, and resources, including hosting “lunch‑and‑learns” or short training sessions.
  • Track all outreach activity in Salesforce and follow a clear process for customer follow‑up.
  • Visit job sites as needed to support customers or partners.
  • Attend/plan events, share program information, and represent our team in the community.
  • Support program goals by helping customers complete projects that save energy—especially lighting, HVAC, building controls, and other common business upgrades.
