About The Position

The Senior Boundary Network Systems Engineer leads the design, implementation, and management of security and operational boundaries separating an organization’s internal networks from external, untrusted networks. The position combines network engineering and systems engineering to define, control, and protect network perimeters. The engineer leads complex network efforts across the engineering lifecycle, develops architectures and designs, integrates and sustains network technologies, and optimizes performance, capacity, traffic flows, and connectivity. The role coordinates with systems engineering, network engineering, software, and dataflow teams to support mission operations and minimize downtime. It also produces and maintains technical requirements, designs, test plans, configuration baselines, and operational documentation, and communicates decisions and risks to stakeholders. The role requires an active TS/SCI clearance with Full Scope Polygraph and twenty years of relevant Systems Engineering experience, with a bachelor’s degree or an allowed experience substitution.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI clearance with Full Scope Polygraph (FSP); sponsorship is not available.
  • Twenty years of experience as a Systems Engineer on programs or contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity, including network engineering functions.
  • Demonstrated experience leading network requirements development, architecture, design, integration, testing, deployment, performance optimization, and operational support.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, information systems, or a related discipline from an accredited college or university; five additional years of Systems Engineering experience may substitute for the degree, for a total of twenty-five years of experience.
  • Expert knowledge of network security principles, configuration management, and technical documentation practices.
  • Experience with requirements analysis, interface definition, network capacity planning, redundancy, resiliency, and fault-tolerant design.
  • Experience using network monitoring, packet analysis, traffic analysis, and performance-management tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience with LAN and WAN architecture, IP routing, switching, and network troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

  • Lead large, complex network engineering efforts with evolving requirements and significant scale; develop and manage system and network requirements throughout the engineering lifecycle.
  • Develop network architectures and detailed designs; integrate, configure, deploy, test, troubleshoot, and sustain network devices, interfaces, protocols, and technologies.
  • Analyze and optimize end-to-end system performance, network capacity, traffic flows, and dataflow management.
  • Configure and optimize connectivity among front-end, back-end, and distributed system components.
  • Coordinate across systems engineering, network engineering, software, and dataflow teams to support mission operations and minimize downtime.
  • Lead implementation of secure, high-speed, scalable, resilient, and fault-tolerant LAN and WAN architectures.
  • Use design analysis, modeling, testing, and network performance-monitoring tools to reduce latency, eliminate bottlenecks, and maximize throughput and availability.
  • Produce and maintain requirements, architecture diagrams, interface definitions, test plans, configuration baselines, and operational documentation; communicate technical decisions and risks to stakeholders.
