About The Position

Stern Cohen Accountants is seeking a Senior QuickBooks Online Bookkeeping Specialist to join Stern Cohen FIT, our innovative cloud bookkeeping and accounting practice. Stern Cohen FIT stands for Finance Team. The FIT team supports successful owner-managed businesses with bookkeeping, payroll, financial reporting, virtual CFO, tax and accounting. We use a modern technology stack that includes QuickBooks Online, Dext, and Wagepoint to help clients stay informed and confident with their financials. As a Senior QuickBooks Online Bookkeeping Specialist, you will work with a portfolio of clients and play an important role in their day-to-day financial operations. You will support full-cycle bookkeeping, client onboarding, cloud file setup, payroll, and year-end preparation, while working closely with colleagues in the FIT team and within the firm in other practice teams including accounting and tax. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys the variety of working with different businesses, is an excellent communicator, takes pride in delivering accurate and timely work, and wants to be part of a collaborative, supportive firm where bookkeeping is valued as a crucial part of the accounting process.

Requirements

  • 4 years or more of bookkeeping experience in a public accounting or multi-client environment
  • Bookkeeping experience with QBO, Dext, Plooto and other accounting software
  • Completed College or University Degree/Diploma in Accounting/Finance or Bookkeeping
  • High level of accuracy and accountability
  • Strong work ethic, diligent, committed and able to juggle priorities in a fast-paced environment and produce work that demonstrates attention to detail
  • The ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments
  • Detail-oriented, self-starter, able to handle conflicting priorities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to plan and organize schedule and workflow to meet various deadlines for clients and senior management
  • Must have knowledge of Wagepoint or other payroll systems
  • Confident and professional communication skills
  • A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset, out of the box thinker with a willingness to learn

Responsibilities

  • Perform full-cycle bookkeeping for a portfolio of client accounts
  • Preparation of bank reconciliations, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and tax filings (HST, WSIB, T4, installments)
  • Identify opportunities to improve workflow efficiency, consistency, and use of cloud-based tools
  • Coordination and distribution of bookkeeping tasks amongst a team
  • Frequent communication with clients, responding to questions, concerns, and requests
  • Onboarding new clients, setting up new QuickBooks files
  • Occasional Zoom meetings with clients to review statements, any questions, and troubleshoot any issues
  • Preparation of year-end packages for accountants, i.e. preparing a trial balance, adjusting entries, and reconciling accounts
  • Preparation and processing of payroll online software
