About The Position

The Senior BI Analyst will develop, advance, and drive adoption of Vistar’s reporting and analytics capabilities across the organization. The role partners with business stakeholders and IT to understand business needs, translate them into scalable, high-performing BI solutions, and turn data into actionable insights. It also helps shape data structure, integration, and reporting standards while enabling self-service analytics across the organization.

Requirements

Must be local to the Denver area; out-of-state candidates will not be considered.
5+ years of Power BI experience, including advanced expertise in developing and optimizing complex DAX calculations, data modeling, and data visualization.
Strong SQL experience, including extracting, manipulating, and querying data from relational databases.
Expertise in performance tuning and optimization of Power BI reports and SQL queries.
Strong understanding of dimensional data modeling and Business Intelligence/Data Warehousing concepts.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills, attention to detail, and a passion for data-driven decision-making.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field.

Responsibilities

Design and optimize dimensional models and semantic layers to support scalable BI solutions, self-service analytics, and a single source of truth.
Develop insightful, visually compelling Power BI reports and dashboards that turn data into actionable business insights.
Analyze data to validate assumptions, support decision-making, troubleshoot issues, and identify improvements in data quality and structure.
Work with business and technical stakeholders to define KPIs, gather requirements, and translate business needs into effective BI solutions.
Serve as a subject matter expert in Power BI, data modeling, Power Query, and DAX, and guide team members and stakeholders on best practices.
Promote data accessibility, self-service analytics, and data literacy across the organization.
Ensure compliance with data governance standards, including data quality, privacy, security, and integrity.
Manage multiple priorities and collaborate across teams to deliver high-quality solutions within defined timelines.
Drive continuous improvement by evaluating tools, techniques, and best practices to improve BI solution effectiveness and performance.
