About The Position
We're Jobtome, an HR Tech company building modern web applications for companies to manage complex hiring and recruitment workflows at scale. Our products are highly interactive, data-driven, and built for real-world usage. We operate with a strong product mindset, short feedback loops, and a pragmatic engineering culture focused on quality, ownership, and maintainable code. As a Senior Go Backend Developer, you will join our engineering team and take ownership of critical backend systems and services. You will design, build, and evolve the backend services powering our products, contribute to architectural decisions, improve system reliability, and help shape backend engineering practices across the company. This is a hands-on senior role where you will write production Go code daily and be involved in impactful technical decisions.
Requirements
- 5+ years of production Go experience
- Based in a European timezone (UTC−1 to UTC+3)
- API design (GraphQL and/or REST)
- PostgreSQL (or similar relational databases)
- BigQuery and other NoSQL databases
- Distributed systems and service-oriented architectures
- Docker and CI/CD pipelines (GitLab pipelines preferred)
- A cloud-infrastructure mindset (GCP or other providers)
- Observability tools (logging, metrics, tracing)
- Testing (unit and/or integration)
- Kubernetes
- Ability to work independently without needing perfect specs
- Ability to own complex features and systems
- Ability to make informed architectural decisions and explain trade-offs
- Ability to write clean, maintainable, well-structured code
- Ability to spot problems early and propose solutions
- Ability to communicate clearly with technical and non-technical people alike
- Ability to raise the team's quality bar through example and reviews
Nice To Haves
- Working experience with Python
- Exposure to Protobuf and gRPC
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain backend services written in Go
- Build and evolve APIs (GraphQL and/or REST) behind complex product workflows
- Design scalable, reliable, and maintainable backend architectures
- Work closely with frontend engineers, product managers, data engineers, and designers
- Contribute to data modeling, business logic, and performance optimization
- Review code and take part in architectural and technical discussions
- Raise the bar on code quality, testing, observability, and system resilience
- Actively tackle refactoring, technical debt, and long-term improvements
- Own backend features end to end, from design to production
- Take part in Agile ceremonies (planning, stand-ups, retrospectives)
