About The Position

LIGHTWORKS is seeking an experienced Senior AV & Lighting Systems Programmer / Integrator for its San Diego team. This senior technical role focuses on programming, commissioning, systems integration, networking, lighting control, and advanced troubleshooting. It is not a traditional installer or service technician position; the primary focus is programming, integration, commissioning, and resolving complex technical problems, while also being comfortable working in the field. The role works with Savant, Lutron HomeWorks and other Lutron lighting systems, Crestron Home, residential networks, distributed audio and video, home theater, shades, and connected-home systems. The position also includes reviewing system designs and drawings, performing final testing and quality control, and supporting and mentoring technicians. LIGHTWORKS designs and delivers AV, networking, lighting control, electrical, shades, and smart-home systems for custom residences. The company provides professional development through LIGHTWORKS University, manufacturer training, and continuing education. The role may involve travel up to three to four workdays per month, including day trips and overnight stays, as well as occasional evening or weekend work based on project needs.

Requirements

Significant high-end residential systems experience.
Strong Savant programming and commissioning experience.
Strong Lutron HomeWorks programming, commissioning, and troubleshooting experience.
Strong residential networking knowledge and advanced diagnostic ability.
Experience commissioning complete integrated systems.
Ability to read architectural, electrical, and AV drawings.
Strong client communication skills and ability to work independently.
High standards for documentation and workmanship.
Valid driver's license and safe driving record.
Ability to pass required pre-employment screening.
Ability to work safely in active construction environments.

Nice To Haves

Experience with Crestron Home, RadioRA, Ketra, Control4, UniFi, IP audio, surveillance, or access control.
Strong technical fundamentals, problem-solving ability, and willingness to keep learning.

Responsibilities

Program, configure, and commission Savant systems.
Program, commission, and troubleshoot Lutron HomeWorks and other Lutron lighting control systems.
Configure keypads, scenes, loads, schedules, and system logic.
Configure and support Crestron Home systems.
Configure and troubleshoot residential networks, Wi-Fi, and connected devices.
Commission distributed audio, video, and home theater systems.
Integrate AV, lighting, shades, networking, and other connected-home systems.
Troubleshoot programming, networking, communication, wiring, load, and device issues.
Review system designs and drawings and identify issues before they become field problems.
Perform final system testing, commissioning, and quality control.
Support and mentor technicians and help improve LIGHTWORKS programming standards.
Work safely in active construction environments.
Travel up to three to four workdays per month, including day trips and overnight stays.
Perform occasional evening or weekend work as required by project needs.
