About The Position

Gigantes Group has been retained by a highly respected, premier AV systems integrator to find an experienced Senior AV Design Engineer. For over 27 years, our client has delivered exceptional, custom-engineered design-build audiovisual solutions across the Mid-Atlantic region (MD, PA, WV, VA, and Washington, D.C.). Headquartered in a recently expanded, state-of-the-art facility in Frederick, Maryland, they operate with a dedicated team of 15+ professionals. They specialize in sophisticated commercial AV systems for houses of worship, healthcare facilities, higher education, corporate environments, funeral homes, and retail spaces. Our client is seeking a Senior AV Design Engineer to serve as the technical anchor of their design-build division. In this role, you will own projects from initial concept through to final system commissioning. You will translate client requirements into precise engineering packages, calculate heat/power loads, and provide critical field troubleshooting. As a senior engineer within a tight-knit team, you will also play a key role in mentoring junior technical staff, ensuring high engineering standards are maintained across all projects.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of dedicated commercial AV design engineering experience.
  • CTS-D (Certified Technology Specialist – Design) is highly preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge and programming/configuration experience with major industry platforms, including: Crestron, Q-SYS, Extron, Biamp / Tesira.
  • Proven capability calculating thermal (heat) loads, power requirements, and structural mounting details.
  • Willingness and ability to work on-site 5 days a week at the Frederick, MD office (this is a firm requirement; remote-only candidates will not be considered).

Responsibilities

  • Translate client requirements, architectural drawings, and sales scopes into fully realized AV system designs.
  • Generate comprehensive design packages, including detailed system schematics (signal flow), rack elevations, facility impact drawings (power, heat load calculations, and structural backing), and detailed bills of materials (BOM).
  • Perform final on-site or remote system commissioning, audio tuning, and video calibration to hand off flawless systems to clients.
  • Act as the technical point of contact for sales, project management, and field installation teams. Partner closely with construction trades and client IT departments.
  • Leverage your understanding of control and DSP architectures to support system configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Guide, train, and mentor junior design engineers and field technicians to elevate the team's collective technical capabilities.
