About The Position

Peraton is hiring a Senior Automation Engineer – Ansible in Infrastructure, Platforms & Operations to develop automation and enable self-service infrastructure engagements across the organization. The role supports an initiative aligned with the organization’s three-year strategic vision to automate and self-serve engagements across the Federal Reserve System. The engineer will build and maintain end-to-end automation solutions, scripts, APIs, and Infrastructure as Code for complex enterprise environments. The role covers the full automation software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, deployment, maintenance, support, and handover. It involves collaboration with infrastructure, security, and service teams in Agile and Scaled Agile environments, as well as compliance with enterprise security policies and applicable banking regulations. The engineer will document solutions, troubleshoot production issues, participate in an on-call rotation as needed, and contribute to automation standards and governance.

Requirements

Minimum of 8 years of experience with a BS/BA, 6 years with an MS/MA, or 3 years with a PhD.
Extensive end-to-end enterprise software development lifecycle experience, including automation maintenance and support.
Advanced Ansible expertise, including development of playbooks, roles, modules, and workflows for complex and secure enterprise environments.
Advanced Python, Bash, or PowerShell scripting skills for custom automation solutions.
Expertise building RESTful APIs with modern frameworks such as FastAPI or Flask and implementing integration patterns to trigger and orchestrate automation workflows.
Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code, version control, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing frameworks.
Strong understanding of Linux/Unix systems, Windows, and cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or an equivalent background or experience.
Working experience in Agile and Scaled Agile environments.
U.S. citizenship required.
Must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance.

Nice To Haves

Experience with automation orchestration platforms such as ServiceNow or ARIA.
Knowledge of secure coding standards and banking environments.

Responsibilities

Automate high-priority tasks, services, and end-to-end workflows across Infrastructure, Platforms & Operations.
Design, develop, and maintain end-to-end automation solutions using Ansible playbooks, roles, modules, and workflows for complex, secure enterprise environments.
Execute the full software development lifecycle for automation projects, from requirements gathering through deployment, maintenance, support, and handover.
Create advanced automation scripts using Python, Bash, and/or PowerShell, and develop custom tools to improve operational efficiency.
Develop and maintain RESTful APIs using frameworks such as FastAPI and Flask to orchestrate automation workflows and integrate enterprise systems.
Build and optimize Infrastructure as Code solutions using CI/CD pipelines, version control practices, and automated testing frameworks.
Collaborate with cross-functional infrastructure, security, and service teams in Agile and Scaled Agile frameworks.
Apply secure coding practices and ensure automation solutions comply with enterprise security policies and applicable banking regulations.
Document solutions, create runbooks, and maintain knowledge base articles.
Provide technical support for automations, troubleshoot production issues, and participate in on-call rotation as needed.
Stay current with automation technologies and contribute to automation standards, best practices, and governance frameworks.
Perform other duties as assigned.
