About The Position

As a Senior Automation Engineer – Ansible in Infrastructure, Platforms & Operations, you will develop automation and enable system-wide infrastructure self-service. The team supports a critical initiative aligned with the organization’s three-year strategic vision to automate and self-serve engagements across the Federal Reserve System. You will design, develop, and maintain end-to-end automation solutions for complex, secure enterprise environments; build scripts and tools to address business requirements; and develop APIs to orchestrate workflows and integrate enterprise systems. The role covers the full software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering through deployment, maintenance, support, and handover. You will also build Infrastructure as Code solutions, work with CI/CD pipelines and testing frameworks, collaborate with cross-functional teams, follow security policies and applicable banking regulations, document solutions, and provide production support. Participation in an on-call rotation may be required as needed.

Requirements

At least 8 years of experience with a BS/BA, 6 years with an MS/MA, or 3 years with a PhD.
Extensive experience with enterprise software development lifecycles and automation, including maintenance and support.
Proven advanced Ansible experience developing playbooks, roles, modules, and workflows for complex, secure enterprise environments.
Advanced proficiency in Python, Bash, or PowerShell for custom automation solutions.
Expertise building RESTful APIs with modern frameworks such as FastAPI or Flask and implementing integration patterns to trigger and orchestrate automation workflows.
Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code, version control, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing frameworks.
Strong understanding of Linux/Unix systems, Windows, and cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or equivalent background or experience.
Working experience in Agile and Scaled Agile environments.
U.S. citizenship.
Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.

Nice To Haves

Experience with automation orchestration platforms such as ServiceNow or ARIA.
Knowledge of secure coding standards and banking environments.

Responsibilities

Automate high-priority tasks, services, and end-to-end workflows across Infrastructure, Platforms & Operations.
Design, develop, and maintain Ansible playbooks, roles, modules, and workflows for complex, secure enterprise environments.
Execute the full software development lifecycle for automation projects, from requirements gathering through deployment, maintenance, support, and handover.
Create automation scripts using Python, Bash, and/or PowerShell, and develop custom tools to improve operational efficiency.
Develop and maintain RESTful APIs using frameworks such as FastAPI and Flask to orchestrate automation workflows and integrate enterprise systems.
Build and optimize Infrastructure as Code solutions using CI/CD pipelines, version control practices, and automated testing frameworks.
Collaborate with infrastructure, security, and service teams in Agile and Scaled Agile frameworks.
Apply secure coding practices and ensure solutions comply with enterprise security policies and applicable banking regulations.
Document solutions, create runbooks, and maintain knowledge base articles.
Provide technical support for automations, troubleshoot production issues, and participate in an on-call rotation as needed.
Stay current with automation technologies and contribute to automation standards, best practices, and governance frameworks.
Perform other duties as assigned.
