About The Position

Reporting to the Senior Director of Development (SDOD), the Senior Associate Director of Development Operations (SADOD) will be a key thought partner in developing goals and executing strategies to advance Penn Live Arts development operations. The SADOD is the principal architect of the department's culture of productivity, overseeing critical operational services in support of the team. The SADOD oversees the annual fund and stewardship programs, is the primary liaison with corporate and foundation relations, and facilitates prospect research. The SADOD supports the SDOD in management of the departmental budget, reporting requests from Penn Live Arts (PLA) and Development & Alumni Relations (DAR), and with key HR processes. The SADOD helps create and implement policies and procedures for the coordination and effective application of all PLA and DAR resources. Exceptional project management, writing, and communication skills, paired with strong critical and creative thinking and a collaborative work style, are key to success. The SADOD oversees the Development Coordinator (DC), serves as the primary liaison with DAR Corporate & Foundations Relations grant writing staff, and works collaboratively with the Associate Director of Individual Giving (ADIG).

Requirements

  • Bachelor's, and 3 to 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience in annual giving, donor relations, stewardship, communications, and fundraising
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to balance multiple priorities
  • Demonstrated success in running annual fund campaigns
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a talent for donor-centered messaging
  • Comfort working with a range of colleagues across various departments and interacting with donors, volunteers, and institutional funding partners
  • Experience with donor databases and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute, a comprehensive annual fund strategy to grow unrestricted support including direct mail & digital campaigns, as well as planning and execution of donor cultivation events and activities.
  • Work with DAR & PLA Colleagues on prospect identification and qualification for annual fund and major gifts portfolios.
  • Supervise and support the implementation of comprehensive stewardship plan including acknowledgements, creation of impact reports, newsletters, and recognition materials across print, digital and event platforms.
  • Oversee PLA's institutional funding portfolio, liaisoning with DAR CFR grant writing staff to ensure deadlines are met and revenue goals are achieved.
  • Support Senior Director of Development in responding to reporting requests from DAR and PLA, managing development budget and key processes with HR.
