About The Position

Amentum is seeking a highly experienced Senior Architecture Manager to lead the planning, design management, technical coordination, and delivery of hyperscale and mission-critical data center projects. Serving as the architectural authority throughout the full project lifecycle, this role oversees architectural consultants and coordinates closely with electrical, mechanical, controls, telecommunications, and construction teams to ensure architectural solutions meet operational reliability, constructability, sustainability, security, scalability, and maintainability requirements. As the primary architectural representative for clients and stakeholders, the Senior Architecture Manager ensures projects align with business objectives, operational requirements, and mission-critical performance standards. The ideal candidate brings extensive experience in data centers, critical facilities, or complex infrastructure environments, with proven expertise in design management, multidisciplinary coordination, and successfully delivering scalable, reliable facilities from concept through commissioning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture from an accredited institution.
  • Licensed Architect (RA) in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • Minimum 10 years of architecture, design management, or project leadership experience.
  • Minimum 5 years supporting mission-critical, technology, industrial, healthcare, laboratory, or large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent projects from concept through construction completion.
  • Must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States without visa sponsorship.
  • Strong understanding of data center design principles, critical facility infrastructure, building systems coordination, construction administration, design management processes, and building codes and life safety requirements.
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering and construction teams.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Direct experience supporting hyperscale or enterprise data center programs.
  • Experience serving as Design Manager, Lead Architect, Senior Project Architect, or Architectural Project Manager.
  • Knowledge of Tier III and Tier IV facility requirements, Uptime Institute standards, mission-critical facility design, and modular data center construction.
  • BIM/Revit environments.
  • LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP).
  • PMP certification.
  • Experience working with Microsoft, Meta, Google, AWS, Oracle, Equinix, Digital Realty, CyrusOne, QTS, Vantage, or other hyperscale data center operators.
  • Experience supporting globally distributed design and construction programs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead architectural programming, planning, and design management activities for new construction, campus expansions, retrofit projects, and facility upgrades.
  • Establish architectural design criteria, standards, and project objectives for mission-critical environments.
  • Direct the development and review of conceptual, schematic, design development, and construction document packages.
  • Ensure designs support operational efficiency, reliability, security, maintainability, and long-term growth strategies.
  • Review and approve architectural deliverables, specifications, reports, calculations, and design documentation.
  • Drive consistency across multiple projects through standardization and implementation of design best practices.
  • Lead planning and design efforts for hyperscale data centers, colocation facilities, enterprise data centers, mission-critical operations centers, and network and telecommunications facilities.
  • Coordinate space planning requirements for white space, electrical rooms, mechanical plants, security operations, loading and logistics areas, and administrative and support spaces.
  • Support site due diligence, feasibility studies, campus master planning, and development strategies.
  • Ensure architectural solutions support high-density computing, AI workloads, critical power infrastructure, and cooling requirements.
  • Lead coordination efforts among architectural teams, structural engineers, civil engineers, electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, controls engineers, telecommunications specialists, and construction teams.
  • Facilitate design review meetings and interdisciplinary coordination workshops.
  • Resolve design conflicts, constructability issues, and technical challenges during preconstruction and project execution.
  • Manage design schedules, deliverables, budgets, and resource allocation.
  • Lead technical reviews to ensure alignment with client standards and project requirements.
  • Serve as the architectural lead throughout construction and commissioning phases.
  • Review RFIs, submittmits, change requests, shop drawings, and field modifications.
  • Conduct site visits and project inspections to verify construction quality and compliance with design intent.
  • Work closely with project managers and construction teams to mitigate schedule, budget, and technical risks.
  • Support project turnover, closeout, and operational readiness activities.
  • Ensure successful implementation of architectural scope through all project phases.
  • Ensure compliance with International Building Code (IBC), local building and zoning requirements, ADA requirements, life safety regulations, fire protection requirements, and corporate design standards.
  • Support data center design standards and industry best practices.
  • Participate in quality assurance and quality control reviews.
  • Lead architectural risk assessments and constructability evaluations.
  • Incorporate sustainable design strategies and energy-efficient solutions into facility designs.
  • Support initiatives focused on carbon reduction, resiliency, and environmental stewardship.
  • Evaluate innovative building materials, technologies, and modular construction solutions.
  • Collaborate on strategies supporting LEED, WELL, or other sustainability objectives when required.
  • Coordinate architectural scope activities associated with commissioning and occupancy readiness.
  • Support integrated systems testing and facility turnover activities.
  • Ensure facility designs support long-term operational maintenance requirements.
  • Collaborate with facilities and operations teams to enhance reliability and maintainability.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, developers, operators, and executive stakeholders.
  • Lead architectural consultants, internal design teams, and external partners.
  • Mentor junior architects, designers, and project professionals.
  • Support proposal development, technical pursuits, and business growth initiatives.
  • Present design solutions and recommendations to executive leadership and project stakeholders.
