About The Position

The Senior Application Engineer works within the R&D group and closely with Technical Support, Marketing, and Sales to provide application knowledge for current and future Sol-Ark customers. The role synthesizes customer requirements to support system design across customer applications and applies expertise in evolving customer expectations and technological advancements. The position focuses on battery energy storage systems (BESS), solar applications, technical sales support, system engineering, product development and testing, training, customer support, and industry and regulatory knowledge.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, with a focus on power systems or power electronics, from an accredited university.
At least 5 years of combined experience in commercial and/or residential solar energy.
At least 2 years of experience in testing and product support of solar and/or energy storage technologies.
Familiarity with evaluating products for compliance with UL 1741, IEEE 1547, UL 9540, and UL 9540A, including knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
Strong technical knowledge of solar systems, design, and installation.
Excellent communication, training, and presentation skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing industry conditions.

Nice To Haves

Strong understanding of Modbus RTU and CAN bus protocols.
Industry-recognized certifications, such as NABCEP.

Responsibilities

Assist Sales and FAE teams with technical questions, site assessments, and system design for large projects.
Support EPC contractors in designing and engineering commercial and industrial solar systems in compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Collaborate with product and R&D teams to develop and improve solar products and services.
Conduct tests of high-voltage inverters and BESS, and produce detailed reports.
Provide training and education on solar products and technologies to application engineering, technical support, sales/FAE teams, customers, and partners.
Monitor industry trends, technologies, and regulations and apply relevant knowledge to enhance business operations.
Apply in-depth knowledge of emerging renewable energy applications.
Assist Technical Support with complex customer inquiries and technical issues.
Work with cross-functional teams, including Sales, Marketing, and Operations, to drive business growth.
Track codes and regulatory changes and advise the company on compliance and business opportunities.
Represent the company as a solar expert at industry events and contribute to industry publications.
