About The Position

The Senior Application Development Engineer is responsible for application data generation, product design, manufacturing technical support, and market development. The role works with commercial, technology, and operations teams to support customer development activities, including designing semiconductor thermal management and heater products with customers to optimize thermal properties, material compatibility, and physical layout. The engineer establishes project design constraints and timelines, supports sales pipeline development, understands customer testing requirements, and develops test capabilities and application data. The role also facilitates manufacturing of newly designed products by defining process requirements, training operators, identifying supply-chain requirements, and preparing documentation. The engineer independently executes multi-component custom design projects, producing complete 3D CAD designs and supporting drawings. They participate in customer management as a project point of contact, facilitate meetings, and contribute to technology roadmap and internal development discussions. The role serves as engineering lead on major customer-specific NPI programs and supports quoting by assessing feasibility and defining materials, machine, and operations requirements. Travel is 5–10%.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
7 or more years of experience in aerospace, semiconductor equipment manufacturing, or related fields.
Experience executing direct, multi-year B2B custom engineering projects.
Experience with CAD tools such as SolidWorks for modeling and drawing generation and/or Ansys for thermal and structural simulation.
Basic knowledge of mechanical and dimensional characterization tools, including CMM, mechanical and thermal property characterization, and non-destructive material testing such as x-ray and/or ultrasound imaging.
Ability to perform hands-on work in an industrial environment using necessary PPE.
Ability to independently prioritize tasks based on timelines and corporate goals.
Ability to communicate clearly and independently with customers on development projects.
Proficiency with the MS Office suite.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of engineering materials and engineering drawings.
Working knowledge of statistical process control.
Basic knowledge of semiconductor processes and markets.
Basic knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
Experience in ANSYS Multiphysics coupling of thermal/structural and fluids modeling.
Familiarity with networked data management systems for version tracking, such as SolidWorks PDM.

Responsibilities

Work with commercial, technology, and operations teams to support customer development activities.

Support the commercial team in developing the sales pipeline by reviewing customer requirements, presenting products, and evaluating market trends.
Understand customer testing requirements, develop test capabilities, and generate application data.
Facilitate production of newly designed products by defining process requirements, training operators, identifying supply-chain requirements, and preparing necessary documentation.
Independently execute multi-component custom design projects and generate complete 3D CAD designs with supporting drawings.
Facilitate customer meetings, serve as the direct point of contact for project-related communication, and participate in face-to-face customer meetings.
Develop understanding of application- and customer-specific technology roadmaps and support definition and prioritization of internal development initiatives.
Act as engineering lead on major customer-specific NPI programs.
Support quoting by evaluating feasibility based on capabilities and defining materials, machine, and operations requirements.
