About The Position

The Senior Application Development Engineer is responsible for generating application data, designing products, providing manufacturing technical support, and developing markets. The engineer works with commercial, technology, and operations teams to support customer development activities, including designing thermal management and heater products with customers to optimize thermal properties, material compatibility, and physical layout. The role establishes design constraints and timelines for development projects. The engineer supports the commercial team in developing the sales pipeline by reviewing customer requirements, presenting products, and evaluating market trends. They determine customer testing requirements, develop test capabilities, and generate application data. For newly designed products, they work with operations to define process requirements, train operators, identify supply chain needs, and prepare documentation. The role independently executes multi-component custom design projects, including creating complete 3D CAD designs and supporting drawings. It also involves active customer management, facilitating meetings, serving as the direct contact for project-related communication, and participating in in-person customer meetings. The engineer develops an understanding of customer and application technology roadmaps, supports prioritization of internal development initiatives, and acts as engineering lead on major customer-specific NPI programs. They also support quoting by evaluating feasibility and defining material, machine, and operational requirements.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
At least 7 years of experience in aerospace, semiconductor equipment manufacturing, or related fields.
Experience executing direct, multi-year B2B custom engineering projects.
Experience with CAD tools such as SolidWorks for modeling and drawing generation and/or Ansys for thermal and structural simulation.
Basic knowledge of mechanical and dimensional characterization tools, including CMM, mechanical and thermal property characterization, and non-destructive material testing such as X-ray and/or ultrasound imaging.
Ability to perform hands-on work in an industrial environment with necessary PPE.
Ability to independently prioritize tasks based on timelines and corporate goals.
Ability to communicate clearly and independently with customers on development projects.
Proficiency with the MS Office suite.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of engineering materials and engineering drawings.
Working knowledge of statistical process control.
Basic knowledge of semiconductor processes and markets.
Basic knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
Experience in ANSYS Multiphysics coupling of Thermal/Structural and Fluids modeling.
Familiarity with networked data management systems for version tracking, such as SolidWorks PDM.

Responsibilities

Develop understanding of application- and customer-specific technology roadmaps and support the definition and prioritization of internal development initiatives.
Act as engineering lead on major customer-specific NPI programs.
Support the quoting process by evaluating feasibility based on capability and defining material, machine, and operations requirements.
