About The Position

TP-Link Systems Inc. is seeking an experienced Senior Antenna Engineer to support the development of home networking and other wireless consumer products. The engineer will participate in needs analysis and design feasibility assessments and take ownership of antenna architecture, simulation and optimization, PCB antenna layout review, tuning and validation, RF performance debugging, and mass-production support. The role spans early product planning through production. It includes coordinating antenna design with hardware, mechanical, RF, system, EMC, and platform teams; leading antenna testing and system integration; supporting regulatory certification; developing manufacturing processes; documenting design and test work; and coordinating with external labs, vendors, and suppliers. The engineer will also track technology trends, pursue focused R&D, mentor junior antenna engineers, and contribute to team standards and training. TP-Link Systems Inc. describes itself as a global provider of networking devices and smart home products, serving customers in over 170 countries. The company emphasizes innovation, collaboration, diversity, and equal employment opportunity. It is unable to offer visa sponsorship at this time.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in antenna design, development, and integration for consumer electronic products.
  • Hands-on antenna development experience with wireless consumer electronics such as routers, smartphones, IoT devices, and CPE.
  • Proficiency in antenna design, simulation, tuning/matching, and validation testing; ability to independently drive antenna development through EVT, DVT, PVT, and mass production.
  • Strong fundamentals in RF and microwave engineering, including electromagnetics, microwave theory, and antenna principles.
  • Hands-on experience with CST, HFSS, or other 3D electromagnetic simulation tools.
  • Hands-on experience with common RF lab test instruments, particularly network analyzers, and anechoic chamber measurements.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to improve TCP/UDP system throughput from an antenna/RF perspective in collaboration with hardware and software teams.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Experience with advanced antenna technologies such as new materials, 3D printing, or reconfigurable antennas.
  • Experience working with ODM/JDM partners, certification labs, RF labs, antenna vendors, and key component suppliers.
  • Experience with Wi-Fi antenna systems covering 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz bands, including Wi-Fi 6/6E/7 products.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate antenna-related requirements, technical feasibility, schedule risks, cost targets, and manufacturability during early product planning and project initiation.
  • Work with hardware and mechanical engineering teams on antenna placement, ground clearance, keep-out zones, matching circuit layout, and enclosure impact.
  • Own multi-radio antenna concept design across Wi-Fi, cellular, Bluetooth, Zigbee, DECT, UWB, and NFC, including feasibility analysis, trade-offs, isolation design, and architecture planning.
  • Lead end-to-end antenna testing and validation, including passive characterization, active performance tuning, system integration, and debugging; optimize designs and tuning strategies to meet targets and deliver final acceptance.
  • Support antenna-related regulatory and compliance activities, including FCC, SAR, and other wireless certification requirements.
  • Own antenna manufacturing process design and production planning; establish standardized production flows and address technical bottlenecks and quality issues during manufacturing.
  • Collaborate with RF, system, EMC, and platform teams to improve system-level wireless performance.
  • Prepare antenna design documentation, including design, simulation, and test reports, technical documents, and antenna routing guidelines.
  • Track industry and technology trends, conduct focused R&D, explore antenna design approaches, and support adoption of new materials and processes.
  • Coordinate with certification labs, antenna vendors, and key component suppliers to resolve technical issues and support product delivery.
  • Mentor junior antenna engineers and contribute to training, design standards, checklists, simulation guidelines, and best practices.

Benefits

  • Fully paid medical, dental, and vision insurance; partial coverage for dependents.
  • Contributions to 401k funds.
  • Over four weeks of PTO per year.
  • Bi-annual pay increases.
  • Health and wellness benefits, including free gym membership.
  • Quarterly team-building events.
