About The Position

Payments Canada is seeking a Senior Analyst, Industry Relations for an 8-month term position. This role is crucial for building and maintaining strong relationships within the Canadian Payments ecosystem. The Senior Analyst will act as a key liaison, fostering collaborative connections with members and stakeholders to support industry engagement and relationship-building efforts. The position also involves contributing to the development and execution of industry engagement initiatives, ensuring member perspectives are understood and integrated. This role requires excellent relationship management skills and the ability to work cross-functionally.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., Business Administration, Economics, Commerce, or a related field).
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience within the payments and/or financial services sector.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of progressive experience specifically in client engagement, stakeholder management, or relationship management.
  • Proven ability to build, manage, and influence high-level relationships with external members and internal cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent presentation and persuasion skills; able to establish credibility quickly and represent the organization at industry conferences.
  • Ability to analyze complex market trends and translate them into actionable annual account plans.
  • Capable of high performance in ambiguous, fast-paced, and rapidly changing situations.
  • Superior problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying member needs and process improvements.
  • A strong team player who can collaborate with and mentor junior analysts within the Industry Relations team.
  • Proficiency in CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce) and Microsoft Office Suite for reporting and analysis.
  • Eligibility to successfully complete background checks (criminal, credit, identity, employment, and education).

Responsibilities

  • Support the execution and refinement of formal Industry Relations and enterprise engagement models.
  • Develop and implement industry engagement strategies in partnership with member engagement team members.
  • Deliver annual account plans for assigned member relationships, identifying priorities and considering modernization efforts and member issues.
  • Manage the assignment of Member Accounts to best support Industry Relations goals.
  • Develop awareness of the external payments environment, both domestically and internationally.
  • Identify and track trends affecting Payments Canada’s members and stakeholders.
  • Provide insights from member interactions to internal partners to improve engagement and initiative success.
  • Provide input related to the strategic plan, long-term desired outcomes, and major initiatives to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Continually manage relationships with members and stakeholders at appropriate levels.
  • Act as the liaison for Industry Relations with assigned internal stakeholders and partners.
  • Participate in working groups and direct 1:1 engagement to support effective delivery of modernization and other objectives.
  • Work with the Industry Relations team and the Analyst, Industry Relations, to ensure execution of team tasks or deliverables.
  • Act as the focal point for communicating key messages (strategic plan, risk management activity, research, new services, etc.) to assigned relationships.
  • Maintain and enhance Payments Canada’s image through participation and speaking engagements at industry-level and Payments Canada-led conferences.
  • Participate in relevant industry associations and provide timely communications and analysis to the Manager and Modernization team.
  • Contribute to change management and implementation of Payments Canada services within the ecosystem.
