About The Position

The University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) is recruiting for a Senior Accounting Assistant for the Cashier’s Office. This role involves auditing, collecting, and posting all tuition and fee payments from UNR students, as well as NSHE departmental deposits. The position will specialize in one of the following processes: Nevada National Guard Waiver Specialist; Chapter 33 Specialist and Graduate Assistant Specialist. Other duties include verifying and auditing accounting documents for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with NSHE and federal rules and regulations; posting accounting documents and/or payments to student and departmental accounts and providing receipts; researching, analyzing, and interpreting data from the student information system; answering account-related questions; printing statements and analysis records; maintaining and daily balancing of the cash drawer; answering phone inquiries from students, employees, and the public; providing training and leadership to student workers and temporary hourly employees; and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Three (3) or more years of applicable experience as described in the job duties.
  • Graduation from high school or equivalent education.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using Microsoft Excel and Word in a business setting.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct maintenance and daily balancing of cash drawer.
  • Answer inquiries by phone from students, employees, and the public.
  • Provide training and leadership to student workers and temporary hourly employees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
