About The Position

JELD-WEN is currently seeking a Senior Accountant to join our growing team. The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting as well as maintaining strong internal controls. This position leads the month-end and year-end close processes, coaches & mentors accounting staff, and ensures compliance with applicable accounting standards and organizational policies. The Accounting Manager partners closely with Finance leadership, auditors and cross-functional teams to support reliable financial information and continuous process improvement.

Requirements

  • Strong communication skills - Ability to summarize and present conclusions at all levels of the organization. Convey complex information in a simple and straightforward manner
  • Strong financial and business acumen
  • Ability to work effectively in a multi-system environment
  • Advanced MS-Excel Skills required (data downloading, efficient manipulation and analysis)
  • Superior problem-solving abilities – thinking outside of the box for appropriate solutions
  • Team player - Needs to work cross functionally to drive improvements and deliver results
  • Hands-on, detail oriented with the ability to think outside the box
  • University Degree – Commerce or Business Admin
  • Accreditations – Finance Designation such as CPA (CA, CMA, CGA) actively pursuing or near completion required
  • 4 to 6 years related accounting experience in a manufacturing and distribution environment
  • Knowledge and experience with US GAAP and SOX (Bill 198) environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with SAP will be considered a strong asset
  • Public company experience or exposure preferred

Responsibilities

  • Oversee general ledger, reconciliations, accruals and balance sheet integrity. Month end closing activities include analysis, journal entry preparation, and account reconciliations in accordance with SOX controls
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly / quarterly consolidated financial reporting packages including Balance Sheet and Income Statements, flux reporting, corporate packages and schedules
  • Continuous process improvement driving precision, efficiency, and effectiveness in the accounting, closing, and reporting activities
  • Analyze financial information to identify trends and anomalies, assisting Operations in understanding results
  • Collaborate with counterparts in N.A. to ensure consistency and best practices
  • Act as a key liaison with Finance leadership, FP&A, Tax and Operations
  • Support special projects and ad hoc analyses as required
  • Drive to understand, document, and expose root causes of performance issues and provide suggestions for remediation and / or corrective action
  • Provide technical guidance, training and coaching to the accounting team
  • Promote consistent accounting practices and documentation standards
