About The Position

The Senior Accountant position within our General Ledger Accounting Team is primarily responsible for owning assigned general ledger accounts, performing robust account reconciliations, and aggregating monthly and quarterly financial reporting while ensuring that the company’s financial information is compliant with US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements. Through the execution of these responsibilities, this position will inform financial decisions behind our company’s strategy and goals, frequently interact cross functionally with key stakeholders within the organization, ensure compliance with SOX requirements, and support the external financial statement audit. This role is also responsible for identifying and developing process improvements through the use of technology, including AI. This role reports to the Manager, Accounting – Reporting and Compliance. The role is Hybrid with three days in office per week at our Corporate Headquarters located in Baltimore, Maryland.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related fields
  • Minimum 4+ years of experience in accounting or related fields
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license (or active pursuit) preferred
  • Familiarity with US GAAP technical research tools and the FASB codification to propose solutions to operational and accounting challenges
  • Expert proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced skills with Microsoft Excel, and previous experience with Oracle preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills required
  • Big 4 public accounting or public company experience with SOX compliance and quarterly close process for SEC filings preferred
  • Experience or interest in process automation and AI

Responsibilities

  • Support timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, year-end financial close, including assigned journal entries, accruals, and monthly consolidation.
  • Perform general ledger account reconciliations, verify accuracy of data, and identify and report any required adjustments.
  • Assist with preparation of SEC reporting, including the Company’s 10-K, 10-Q, and Proxy filings.
  • Support the external integrated audit, including management’s assessment over internal controls.
  • Provide thought leadership and guidance to peers.
  • Cross train with other accounting team members.
  • Complete ad hoc projects assigned to the GL Team to support strategic company initiatives.
  • Perform preliminary research on technical accounting issues as they arise.
