About The Position

BSN SPORTS, a Varsity Brands Company, is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their team. This role reports to the Controller and is responsible for various accounting functions including monthly accruals, accrued expenses, reconciliations, variance analysis, journal entries, audit schedules, and special projects. The Senior Accountant will collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. The position is primarily on-site in Farmers Branch, TX, with 4 days per week in the office.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
3-5 years of relevant accounting experience
Strong understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting
Experience working within ERP systems
Advanced experience in Microsoft Excel including formulas and pivot tables
Public accounting experience with Big 4 or experience working in a large public company
Excellent analytical skills and problem-solving ability
Excellent interpersonal skills, including listening, verbal, written, and presentation, with the ability to communicate effectively within various levels of the company and senior leadership
Self-motivated team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment, has the ability to manage multiple priorities, works independently with minimal supervision, and collaborates effectively across the organization
Ability to handle sensitive matters and information with tact, diplomacy, and confidentiality
Attention to detail, ability to multitask, remain organized and prioritize tasks with strict deadlines

Nice To Haves

CPA or progress toward CPA preferred
Public Accounting experience preferred

Responsibilities

Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and monthly close activities
Maintain and ensure accuracy of general ledger accounts, including revenue, inventory, fixed assets, accruals and prepaid balances
Provide and present commentary on fluctuations in assigned GL accounts to senior management
Support internal and external audits by providing schedules and explanations as needed
Ensure compliance with internal policies and accounting standards
Provide schedules and support to other functions of the company, including Financial Reporting
Recommend and help implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy
Mentor and provide guidance to staff accountants
