About The Position

Magellan Aerospace, Kitchener has a great opportunity for a Senior Accountant (6 Months Contract). The successful incumbent will oversee & ensure proper internal controls of the finance administrative activities including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivables, and General Accounting. Support the Finance Manager with various reporting requirements & the administration of the fiscal period processes. Reporting to the Finance Manager the Senior Accountant’s major activities and responsibilities include the following. Please note this is a 6 month Contract with the possibility of extension. Hourly Range: $35/hr to $40/hr Vacancy Reason: New Position

Requirements

  • University/college degree in business or related field.
  • 5 to 10 years work experience in similar position, preferably in manufacturing
  • Professional Accounting designation or pursuing.
  • Proficient with SAP Cincom, CODA or similar ERP systems
  • Strong working knowledge of EXCEL
  • Excellent knowledge of accounting principles, management regulations & compliance
  • Training, inspecting work and coaching skills
  • Knowledge of spreadsheet & accounting procedures
  • Effective interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

  • Support the cash reporting: weekly function
  • Complete the month end close process in accordance with corporate timelines
  • Compete monthly Financial Statement Reporting Package for Corporate
  • Analyze Financial Statements and explain variance to Budget
  • Analyze Costs and Margins by part on a monthly basis
  • Support the Yearly Budget preparation
  • Lead general accounting function, including reconciliations of general ledger accounts, A/R, A/P, recurring journal entries
  • Ensure the accuracy of all department processes to the various accounts
  • Perform daily review of all revenue streams, costing transactions for accuracy and investigation of discrepancies and unusual transactions
  • Manage & reconcile intercompany transactions
  • Identify, review and implement process improvement initiatives
  • Assist with special projects and ad hoc reports
  • Support the external audit process and corporate enquiries
  • Monthly HST and WSIB reporting
  • Be a critical interface with internal manufacturing, contracts, quality and configuration departments as needed
  • Implement appropriate processes for documenting lessons learned and sharing of best practices
  • Other duties as assigned by the Finance Manager
