About The Position

The Boston Home, an active and innovative long-term care community in Dorchester, is seeking an experienced, dependable Senior Accountant or consulting accountant to manage key monthly accounting, financial reporting, and cash management responsibilities. The Boston Home is a specialized long-term care community serving adults with advanced neurological conditions. Requirements

  • At least three years of general accounting, bookkeeping, or financial-close experience
  • Strong understanding of journal entries, account reconciliations, accrual accounting, cash management, and financial statements
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Excel and accounting software
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with a small finance and administrative team

Nice To Haves

  • Degree in accounting or a related field preferred

Responsibilities

  • Manage the monthly financial close process
  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly financial statements
  • Prepare and post monthly journal entries
  • Maintain prepaid expense, accrual, fixed-asset, and other supporting schedules
  • Reconcile general ledger and bank accounts and investigate discrepancies
  • Monitor daily cash balances and assist with short-term cash planning
  • Coordinate cash transfers, funding needs, and banking activity
  • Assist with audit preparation and other financial reporting requirements
  • Perform related accounting and administrative duties as assigned
