About The Position

This role is for a Senior Accountant II within Vistra's Accounting team. The position involves executing complex accounting tasks, analyzing financial data, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. The role also includes mentoring junior team members and participating in special projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Strong financial analysis, problem solving & communication skills
  • Process improvement oriented
  • Fundamental understanding of the accounting close process
  • 3+ years of experience in Accounting or related field
  • Experience with accounting and/or reporting systems

Nice To Haves

  • Experience preferred in the Energy industry, but not required

Responsibilities

  • Executes complex tasks with a strong understanding of relevant policies, procedures, and controls
  • Analyzes data, identifies trends, and provides insights to support decision-making and operational efficiency.
  • Reviews and reconciles information to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with company standards.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to improve processes and implement best practices.
  • Assists in preparing and reviewing reports, ensuring clarity, completeness, and adherence to guidelines.
  • Supports continuous improvement efforts by identifying inefficiencies and recommending solutions.
  • Provides mentorship and guidance to junior team members, contributing to knowledge sharing and skill development.
  • Prepares various journals, account reconciliations, and monthly reports
  • Coordinates, consolidates, reports and prepares analysis of financial transactions to aid management in decision-making.
  • Effectively interfaces with other Vistra personnel to ensure appropriate accounting and reporting deadlines are achieved.
  • Participates in special projects as requested.
