About The Position

Weston College is seeking a SEND Lead to oversee support for a caseload of students with SEND, particularly those with EHCPs. The role includes line-managing Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) and ensuring students with additional learning needs receive effective support, timely resources, and interventions that build independence and confidence over time.

This is a full-time, 37-hour-per-week maternity cover role. The postholder may be based at any of the college’s Weston-super-Mare campuses. Interviews will take place on-site at one of the campuses.

Requirements

• SEND or SpLD qualification at a minimum of Level 2.
• Experience supporting young people with SEND and/or additional learning needs.
• Experience managing a busy workload in an education setting.
• Ability to organise and prioritise workloads and activities and meet deadlines in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

• Line-manage a group of LSAs, overseeing their practice, development, and progression.
• Complete appraisals and ensure ongoing monitoring of performance.
• Allocate LSAs effectively to meet student needs and provide accurate timetables for efficient use of resources across curriculum activities.
• Support the effective use of digital resources and assistive technology to help students develop independence.
• Liaise with teaching staff, academic managers, and other professionals to maintain a collaborative approach to student support.
