About The Position

The Ohio State University's career site is seeking a Semester Lecturer to teach SFHP Strength Training courses for the Department of Human Sciences for the Autumn 2026 semester. This role involves serving as the instructor of record for assigned sections, focusing on teaching fundamental strength training skills to beginners. The curriculum includes body weight training, stacked weight machines, barbell training, and warm-up/cool-down activities. The instructor will monitor and facilitate student progress, create and update course syllabi, manage course content in Canvas, provide timely feedback on assignments and skill testing, hold weekly office hours, and communicate with and support students, particularly those who may be falling behind. The lecturer is expected to attend all scheduled class meetings and program meetings/trainings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in physical education, Exercise Science or Sport Management.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience teaching and/or coaching in strength training/conditioning.

Nice To Haves

  • NSCA or ACSM certification in strength and conditioning preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as instructor of record for assigned section(s) which meet twice per week for 55 minutes each.
  • Teach fundamental strength training skills to beginners, including body weight training, stacked weight machines, barbell training, warm-up and cool-down activities.
  • Monitor and facilitate student progress.
  • Create and update course syllabus.
  • Create, maintain and modify course content in Canvas (as necessary).
  • Provide timely feedback and grades on student assignments and skill testing.
  • Hold weekly office hours.
  • Communicate with and support students, being alert to those who may be falling behind.
  • Attend all scheduled class meetings throughout the semester.
  • Attend program meetings and trainings.
