About The Position

We are seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to lead a full-time self-contained classroom supporting approximately 10 students. The school day runs from 8:30 AM–3:40 PM, providing a consistent schedule and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students with diverse learning and support needs. The classroom primarily serves students with autism, including several students with more significant support needs. The ideal educator will create a structured, supportive environment while adapting instruction and classroom routines to meet each student's individual needs.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree or higher in Special Education or a related field.
Ability to provide individualized instruction and maintain a positive, structured classroom environment.
Active Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with the appropriate Special Education endorsement.

Experience supporting students with autism and complex needs preferred.

Responsibilities

Track student progress and maintain accurate documentation.
Implement positive behavioral and classroom management strategies.
Participate in IEP meetings and support the development of student goals.
Collaborate with families, paraprofessionals, and related-service providers.
Lead and manage a self-contained classroom of approximately 10 students.
Support students with autism, including those with significant support needs.
Adapt instruction, activities, and classroom routines to meet individual needs.
Provide individualized instruction aligned with student IEPs and learning goals.
