About The Position

The SEIT Hardware Engineering Lead provides technical leadership across Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering, connecting functional expertise with system integration, verification, and test execution across the Power Systems, Acoustics and Imaging Systems, and Integrated Systems and Encryption divisions. The role serves as the Maritime technical focal point for mechanical and electrical engineering design, integration, verification, and test, and helps improve how Maritime hardware is designed, integrated, verified, and sustained for demanding customer missions. This highly visible leadership position has no direct reports. It achieves results through technical credibility, collaboration, influence, and disciplined engineering leadership across a matrixed organization. The Lead establishes practical, repeatable approaches to improve hardware engineering consistency across Maritime divisions while preserving flexibility for individual programs and product lines. The role identifies systemic technical risks, drives root-cause resolution, and strengthens upfront engineering rigor to reduce downstream rework, integration issues, and test delays. The position partners closely with Maritime SEIT, functional engineering leaders, Division Chief Engineers, Program Management, and program teams. It also supports proposal, capture, program startup, and execution-planning activities, and communicates technical status and recommendations to engineering and program leadership, customers, and other stakeholders. The position is based in Palm Bay, Florida; Millersville, Maryland; or Camden, New Jersey, follows a 9/80 schedule, and requires travel up to 25%.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline and at least 12 years of prior related experience; or a graduate degree and at least 10 years of prior related experience; or, in lieu of a degree, at least 16 years of prior related experience.
  • Comprehensive technical knowledge in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, hardware systems engineering, integration and test, or a closely related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience leading or significantly influencing cross-functional engineering efforts in a matrixed environment.
  • Experience with hardware product development from requirements definition through design, integration, verification, qualification, production, and sustainment.
  • Experience resolving complex technical issues involving mechanical, electrical, and system interfaces.
  • Experience with engineering lifecycle processes, technical reviews, risk management, requirements traceability, verification planning, and configuration management.
  • Strong verbal, written, interpersonal, and presentation skills for technical and executive audiences.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required U.S. Government security clearances.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% to support programs and teams at Maritime locations.
  • Ability to lead through technical expertise, influence decisions across organizational boundaries, and align experienced engineers around a common hardware engineering approach.
  • Ability to connect mechanical and electrical engineering decisions to system performance, integration, verification, manufacturing, sustainment, and customer outcomes.
  • Demonstrated commitment to disciplined requirements management, design reviews, interface control, verification planning, root-cause analysis, and risk management.
