About The Position

The Toledo Zoo & Aquarium is seeking a part-time Security Screener to help provide guests with a safe and positive experience. The role operates and inspects security screening equipment, including walk-through metal detectors and handheld wands, and conducts guest screening and bag checks. The screener identifies potential threats, assists ground patrol, works with security personnel and law enforcement, monitors for criminal activity, prepares reports, and provides professional assistance while following security procedures.

This is a non-exempt part-time position under the Fair Labor Standards Act. It reports to the Director of Security, with general oversight by the Security Supervisor. Work scheduling must be flexible and may include evenings, weekends, and holidays. The Toledo Zoo is a drug-free workplace, including marijuana.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Flexibility in work scheduling, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Nice To Haves

• Prior security-related experience, law enforcement experience, or a military background.
