Security & Safety Coordinator

Constellation Institute•Berkeley, CA
•$78,000 - $98,000•Onsite

About The Position

This is a full-time, on-site, contract-to-hire role based in Berkeley. The first three months are a contract period during which the employee is employed by a staffing partner, which handles pay and benefits. Constellation recruits and selects the employee, who works on site with its team and follows its policies. Conversion to a permanent position is intended based on performance. The coordinator keeps daily security and safety operations running, including badging and visitor access, emergency supplies, routine system checks, records, and responding to security or safety questions. The position reports to the Senior Security & Safety Specialist, who provides training on systems and processes. The role is approximately 40 hours per week during core business hours, with occasional early, late, or weekend coverage for events and drills. All work is performed on a Constellation-issued and managed device. The employee must be able to walk all floors, lift up to 40 pounds, and respond on site during incidents, with or without reasonable accommodation. A confidentiality agreement is required before starting. Offers are contingent on a background check conducted in compliance with the California Fair Chance Act and ICRAA. During the three-month contract, the hourly, non-exempt pay rate is $38 to $47 per hour. Upon conversion to a permanent role, pay is $78,000 to $98,000 per year. During the contract, the employee accrues paid sick leave. After conversion, benefits include catered meals, a 401(k) with employer match, employer-paid commuter benefits, and health, dental, and vision insurance.
