About The Position

Allied Universal is hiring a full-time Armed Security Officer for access control at a healthcare site in Birmingham, Alabama. The officer will help safeguard patients, visitors, staff, and facilities by conducting armed patrols, monitoring access points, managing visitors, and responding to security concerns. The role emphasizes professional communication, customer service, compliance with site procedures and applicable laws, and a visible security presence. The position pays $18.81 per hour and follows a daytime schedule, Monday through Friday, 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Applicants are subject to a background investigation and, where permitted by law, a drug screen. Industry-specific security training is required. Licensing requirements may apply under state or local regulations.

Requirements

Possess a valid concealed carry weapons permit.
Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
Meet applicable state and local licensing requirements, which may be required before employment.
Applicants are subject to a background investigation in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws.
Applicants are subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.

Responsibilities

Provide customer service to patients, visitors, and staff while following site-specific procedures, policies, and emergency response activities.
Conduct regular and random armed patrols of healthcare facilities, parking areas, and the surrounding perimeter to identify and report unusual activity or hazards.
Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations calmly and professionally, following established protocols.
Monitor access points and assist with visitor management, access control, and delivery verification in accordance with site requirements.
Maintain proficiency with authorized equipment and perform assigned duties in compliance with applicable laws, licensing requirements, and Allied Universal policies.
