About The Position

EKG Security, Inc. is seeking a Security Officer for a residential gated community in Mt. Gilead, NC. This is a part-time, unarmed position responsible for providing fixed and roving patrol security. The role involves investigating incidents, preparing reports, maintaining daily activity logs, and ensuring the safety and security of the premises. The officer will also assist visitors, control access, and respond to alarms or emergencies. This position requires adherence to EKG and client safety policies and participation in training sessions.

Requirements

  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Pass any State-required training or other qualifications for licensing.
  • Complete site-specific training before serving as a qualified security officer.
  • Have a driver's license if driving a company or client-owned vehicle.
  • Ability to operate radio or telephone equipment and/or console monitors.
  • Ability to interact cordially and communicate with the public.
  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Be a U.S. citizen or a foreign citizen authorized to legally work in the United States.
  • Have access to reliable transportation/self-owned that allows for short notice response.
  • Be able to work any shift, 24 hours per day, seven days per week.
  • Have a mobile phone.
  • Have an e-mail address and regularly use it.
  • Be able to effectively read, write, and speak English.
  • Be able to provide, upon job offer, a DD214 discharge document with discharge status indicated, if prior military.

  • Prior military service (indicated by requirement to provide DD214).

Responsibilities

  • Provide fixed and roving patrol security for a client site.
  • Investigate and prepare reports on accidents, incidents, and suspicious activities.
  • Complete 24-hour basic security officer course within six months of hiring.
  • Complete applicable Safety & Environmental Rules training.
  • Maintain daily activity reports on paper, computer, smartphone, or tablet.
  • Watch for irregular or unusual conditions that may create security concerns or safety hazards.
  • Sound alarms or call police or fire department in case of fire or presence of unauthorized persons.
  • Permit authorized persons to enter property and monitor entrances and exits.
  • Assist customers, employees, and visitors in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Complete post order training and familiarization.
  • Work overtime and on various shifts as needed, including weekends and holidays.
  • Comprehend numerous policies, procedures, and concepts to respond appropriately to various situations.
  • Communicate effectively with others.
  • Walk up and down stairs.
  • Use a computer or tablet with basic competence, including Guard tour system, Camera monitoring system, and E-mail program.
  • Patrol the client's facility.
  • Control access to the client facility (foot and vehicle traffic).
  • Stand for long periods of time, sometimes in excess of eight hours.
  • Work outside in a variety of weather conditions depending on the assignment.
  • Operate radio or telephone equipment and/or console monitors.
  • Interact cordially and communicate with the public.
  • Participate in training sessions and meetings when scheduled.
  • Adhere to EKG and client safety policies.
  • Operate a computer (Windows-based) and tablet with basic competency, including human resources and time entry software/websites, e-mail, and time entry phone systems.
