About The Position

As a Security Officer at a transitional shelter in the Bronx, New York, you will help safeguard clients and support a welcoming environment for residents, visitors, and staff. You will monitor and patrol assigned areas, maintain a visible presence to help deter security-related incidents, provide customer service, and respond professionally to site needs. The position is full-time, with scheduled shifts from 12:00 AM to 8:00 AM on Monday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The pay rate is $18.87 per hour.

Requirements

Possess a valid New York State Security Guard License.
Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles or at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
Submit to a background investigation as a condition of employment, in accordance with applicable laws.
Submit to a drug screen as a condition of employment, to the extent permitted by law.

Responsibilities

Provide customer service to residents, visitors, staff, and service providers by carrying out security procedures, site-specific policies, and appropriate emergency response activities.
Respond calmly and professionally to incidents, resident concerns, and critical situations, following reporting and escalation procedures.
Conduct regular and random patrols of assigned interior and exterior areas, including entrances, common areas, and perimeter locations, to identify and report unusual activity or property concerns.
Monitor access points and visitor activity according to site-specific procedures, helping maintain an orderly and welcoming environment.
Complete activity logs, incident reports, and shift communications accurately and promptly.
