About The Position

As a part-time Access Control Officer at a government corrections location in Spindale, North Carolina, you will help safeguard clients by monitoring entry points, verifying authorized access, and maintaining a visible presence to deter security-related incidents. You will support a controlled environment through clear communication, professional customer service, and adherence to site procedures. The role pays $21.50 per hour and is scheduled Monday and Wednesday from 5:45 PM to 6:00 AM.

Requirements

Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21 or older for armed roles.
Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
Undergo a background investigation as a condition of employment.
Undergo a drug screen as a condition of employment, to the extent permitted by law.
Meet applicable licensing requirements, which may be required before employment.
Have a valid driver’s license for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

Provide customer service to staff, visitors, and authorized personnel by carrying out site-specific access-control procedures and security-related policies.
Verify identification, credentials, and authorization for individuals, vehicles, deliveries, and contractors entering or exiting designated areas.
Monitor access points, visitor logs, alarms, cameras, and electronic access-control systems; report irregularities and unauthorized access attempts according to site procedures.
Respond calmly to incidents, access-control concerns, and critical situations, including contacting appropriate site personnel and/or emergency responders.
Conduct regular and random patrols of assigned entry points, buildings, and perimeter areas to deter unauthorized activity and identify security-related concerns.
