About The Position

As a part-time Access Control Security Officer at a logistics and distribution location in Newark, New Jersey, you will serve and safeguard clients by managing entry points, verifying credentials, monitoring access activity, and communicating with visitors and employees. Your visible presence and professional service help maintain an orderly environment and deter security-related incidents. The role offers shift flexibility through Allied Universal’s Claim a Shift platform. The scheduled shifts are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 4:00 PM to 12:00 AM. The pay rate is $21.25 per hour.

Requirements

Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; armed roles require applicants to be at least 21.
Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
Undergo a background investigation as a condition of employment, in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws.
Undergo a drug screen as a condition of employment, to the extent permitted by law.
Meet applicable state or local licensing requirements; a license may be required before employment.
A valid driver’s license is required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

Provide customer service to drivers, employees, visitors, and vendors by following site-specific access-control procedures, policies, and emergency-response activities as appropriate.
Monitor entry and exit points, verify credentials and authorization, and maintain visitor and vehicle access records.
Control access to restricted areas, direct authorized personnel and delivery traffic, and report access irregularities to site leadership.
Respond calmly to incidents and critical situations, following established security-related procedures.
Conduct regular and random patrols of assigned access points, loading areas, and perimeter locations; working environments and conditions may vary by site.
