About The Position

As a part-time Security Officer serving as a screener at an educational location in Lexington, Kentucky, you will help create a welcoming environment by screening individuals and their belongings, monitoring access points, and reporting security-related concerns. You will use communication and customer service skills to assist students, faculty, staff, and visitors while helping deter incidents. The position is scheduled Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and pays $19.00 per hour.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of security-related experience.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21 or older for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Applicants are subject to a background investigation in accordance with applicable law.
• Applicants are subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements vary by state and locality and may be required before employment.
• A valid driver’s license is required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, and visitors while carrying out site-specific screening procedures, policies, and emergency response activities as appropriate.
• Screen individuals and belongings entering designated campus locations using assigned screening equipment and procedures; report prohibited items or concerns according to site protocols.
• Respond to incidents and critical situations calmly and with a problem-solving approach, coordinating with campus personnel and emergency responders as directed.
• Maintain accurate logs and reports related to screening activity, visitor access, incidents, and unusual observations.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of assigned entry points, nearby areas, and perimeter locations to identify and report security-related concerns.
