About The Position

Allied Universal is hiring a Security Professional Branch Flex Officer to safeguard clients across a range of industries and work at varied sites. The Security Officer Flex Armed Patrol role is based in New Haven, Connecticut, and provides hands-on experience across different work environments, with opportunities to develop skills and advance within the company.

The position offers 30–40 hours per week. Schedules vary from week to week and combine manager-assigned shifts with shifts claimed through the Earn More, Claim-A-Shift self-scheduling program. Shifts, days, locations, and assignments change regularly. Officers may be assigned irregular shifts with little to no advance notice to support client needs.

Requirements

• Be available to work varying shifts, including holidays, nights, and weekends.
• Possess an armed guard card or license.
• Have reliable transportation.
• Be available for last-minute shift scheduling.
• Be able to travel required distances.
• Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Submit to a background investigation as a condition of employment, in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws.
• Submit to a drug screen as a condition of employment, to the extent permitted by law.
• Meet applicable state and/or local licensing requirements, which may be required before employment.
• Have a valid driver’s license for driving positions.

Nice To Haves

• Ability to speak, read, and write in multiple languages, such as Spanish, Portuguese, French, or Arabic.
• Prior security, military, or law enforcement experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform security patrols of designated areas on foot or in a vehicle.
• Watch for irregular or unusual conditions that may create security concerns or safety hazards.
• Sound alarms or call the police or fire department in case of fire or unauthorized persons.
• Warn violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking, or carrying forbidden articles.
• Permit authorized persons to enter property and monitor entrances and exits.
• Observe departing personnel to protect against theft of company property and ensure authorized property removal follows client requirements.
• Investigate and prepare reports on accidents, incidents, and suspicious activities, and maintain written logs as required by the post.
• Assist customers, employees, and visitors in a courteous and professional manner.
• Make emergency notifications as necessary pursuant to site Post Orders.
• Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
