Security Officer Museum Foot Patrol
About The Position
Allied Universal is hiring a full-time, unarmed Security Officer for foot patrol at a prominent public cultural institution in Los Angeles, California. The officer will safeguard visitors, staff, contractors, vendors, exhibits, property, and restricted areas by conducting patrols, monitoring access points and visitor activity, supporting alarm response, and following site-specific security procedures. The role also involves providing customer service, responding professionally to concerns and incidents, documenting patrols and observations, and communicating relevant information to site leadership and Allied Universal supervision. The posted pay rate is $20.76 per hour. The schedule is daytime: Monday through Thursday as listed in the posting (Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, 10:45 a.m.–6:15 p.m.), plus Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, 10:45 a.m.–2:45 p.m. Working environments and conditions may vary by location.
Requirements
- Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Submit to a background investigation as a condition of employment, in accordance with applicable laws.
- Submit to a drug screen as a condition of employment, to the extent permitted by law.
Nice To Haves
- A state-, county-, or city-issued security-related license is preferred; licensing may be required before employment depending on applicable state or local laws and regulations.
- Experience with alarm panels is preferred.
- Comfort using a computer or tablet is preferred.
- Experience with access control and badge systems is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide customer service to visitors, staff, contractors, and vendors while carrying out security procedures, site-specific policies, and appropriate emergency response activities.
- Respond to incidents, visitor concerns, and critical situations calmly and professionally, escalating matters according to site procedures.
- Conduct regular and random foot patrols throughout galleries, public spaces, exterior grounds, entry points, and perimeter areas.
- Monitor access points and observe visitor activity to help protect exhibits, property, and restricted areas.
- Document observations, incidents, and patrol activity in required reports.
- Communicate relevant information to site leadership and Allied Universal supervision.
