Security Officer - Troy, NY
About The Position
We are currently hiring a part-time Security Officer for a client site in Troy, NY. This role requires a dependable and professional Security Officer for a challenging assignment at a transitional housing facility serving individuals experiencing homelessness. This role requires a calm, confident, and compassionate individual who can maintain a safe and respectful environment while responding appropriately to a variety of situations. Officers may encounter verbal disputes, substance use, medical emergencies, and other situations that require sound judgment and professionalism.
Requirements
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to de-escalate tense situations.
- Professional demeanor and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Excellent observation skills and attention to detail.
- Dependable, punctual, and capable of working independently.
- Comfort using basic technology, including CCTV systems and reporting tools.
- Ability to interact with residents, staff, and visitors with dignity, respect, and professionalism.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with incident reporting preferred.
- Previous security, crisis response, behavioral health, or related experience strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Conduct regular walking patrols throughout the facility to maintain safety and security.
- Monitor CCTV and other surveillance systems for unusual or suspicious activity.
- Complete clear, detailed, and accurate daily activity logs and incident reports.
- Remain alert and proactive in identifying and addressing potential safety concerns.
- Respond appropriately to incidents, emergencies, and resident concerns.
- Contact law enforcement, emergency medical services, or other first responders when necessary.
- Work collaboratively with facility staff to promote a safe and respectful environment.
- Observe, document, and report policy violations or unusual activity.
