About The Position

The Security Officer reports directly to the Security Supervisor and patrols and responds to calls throughout all areas of the hospital. The role helps maintain a safe and secure environment for patients, employees, and visitors by upholding applicable federal and state laws and Emanate Health policies in an effective and tactful manner. Tasks are performed within established departmental operating procedures, with varied decision-making routinely under moderate pressure and occasionally under extreme stress.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent, or one year of security experience.
• Familiarity with a hospital environment.
• Working knowledge of electronics, access control systems, electronic locking hardware, and CCTV.
• Strong communication skills.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Valid California Guard Card and California Driver’s License.
• American Heart Association BLS certification and baton and pepper spray qualifications must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Must have two years of continuous driving experience in California.
• Must have no major driving convictions, no more than one moving citation in a three-year period, and no more than one at-fault accident in a three-year period.
• Assaultive Behavior Training Certification meeting AB508 and SB1299 is required within 90 days of hire or transfer.
• New hires who completed Assaultive Behavior training outside Emanate Health must complete the Emanate Health Workplace Violence online awareness module within 30 days of hire or transfer.

Nice To Haves

• One year of experience in security, law enforcement, or the military is preferred.
