About The Position

Seeking an experienced construction security officer for a fire-watch role. This is a part-time, temporary opening for 4 to 6 weeks in downtown Phoenix. The position requires an AZ guard card and experience in construction security and fire watch duties. The role involves working outside on Saturday nights from 6 PM to 5 AM, an 11-hour shift, patrolling a construction site, monitoring for fires and other emergencies, reporting issues, and ensuring site security. The officer will work independently for most of the shift and must be able to handle stressful situations and difficult people with respect and care. Free parking is provided.

Requirements

  • Experienced construction security officer
  • Firewatch experience
  • AZ guard card
  • Experience in working security on a construction site
  • Knowledge of safety and OSHA standards for construction sites
  • Ability to work alone
  • Ability to handle homeless persons with respect and care
  • Understanding of firewatch detail requirements
  • Ability to walk stairs, up and down a few times a shift
  • Good physical shape/fit
  • Ability to handle high-stress situations
  • Ability to handle difficult people
  • Must have a current AZ guard card

  • Experience in construction security

Responsibilities

  • Using Silvertrac for Daily Activity Reports (DARs)
  • Performing two entries per hour for fire watch
  • Conducting security patrols twice an hour
  • Patrolling fenced areas
  • Watching for fires or other emergencies
  • Reporting pipe leaks and other issues
  • Working outside during the shift
  • Checking all gates and fence lines
  • Preventing unauthorized site entry during off-hours
  • Keeping vagrants and homeless individuals off the site and away from construction areas, closed sidewalks, and office areas
  • Walking stairs (no elevator access in the 17-floor building)
  • Watching for theft, vandalism, and unauthorized individuals
  • Reporting hourly and incident reports using Silvertrac
  • Patrolling and checking two areas per hour on Silvertrac
  • Working alone or without supervision for the whole shift
  • Calling 911, police, fire, or ambulance as needed
  • Watching for fence jumpers and keeping people out of the site
  • Answering the site phone overnight
  • Being detailed, aware, and alert at all times
  • Performing walking patrols every hour, including walking up and down stairs and along fence lines
  • Handling homeless persons with respect and care
  • Understanding firewatch detail requirements
  • Handling high-stress situations
  • Handling difficult people
  • Wearing a hard hat and safety vest at all times while on duty
