About The Position

Fire-watch Security is seeking experienced construction security officers for fire-watch duties in downtown Phoenix. We have both part-time and full-time openings. The part-time position is for a temporary opening of 4 to 6 weeks on Saturday nights. The full-time position involves working as a security officer for fire-watch/security on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays each week from 5 PM to 5 AM, with the shift end time potentially between 2 AM and 5 AM, depending on crew arrival. This role requires working outside, often alone at night, and involves patrols, monitoring for emergencies, and ensuring site security. Candidates must be physically fit, able to handle stressful situations, and possess knowledge of safety and OSHA standards for construction sites.

Requirements

  • Experienced construction security officer.
  • Firewatch experience.
  • Must have an AZ guard card.
  • Must be able to start right away.
  • Experience in working security on a construction site.
  • Must know safety and OSHA standards for working at a construction site.
  • Be able to work alone.
  • Be able to walk stairs, up and down a few times a shift.
  • Must be in good physical shape/fit.
  • Be able to handle high stress situations.
  • Be able to handle difficult people.
  • Must wear hardhat and safety vest at all times while on site on duty.

Nice To Haves

  • Full-time security officer for fire-watch/security on Tue, Wed and Thursdays each week from 5pm to 5am.

Responsibilities

  • Work alone at night.
  • Use Silvertrac for Daily Activity Reports (DARs), with 2 entries per hour.
  • Perform fire watch duties every 2 hours.
  • Conduct security patrols twice an hour.
  • Patrol fenced areas.
  • Watch for fires or other emergencies.
  • Report all pipe leaks and other issues as needed.
  • Work outside during the shift.
  • Check all gates and fence lines.
  • Prevent unauthorized entry onto the site during off-hours.
  • Keep vagrants/homeless people off the site and away from construction areas, closed sidewalks, and office areas.
  • Walk stairs.
  • Watch for theft, vandals, unauthorized people, and individuals attempting to gain entry.
  • Use Silvertrac for reporting hourly and incident reports.
  • Patrol and check two areas per hour on Silvertrac.
  • Work mostly alone or the whole shift without supervision.
  • Call 911 or other emergency services (police, fire, ambulance) as needed.
  • Watch for fence jumpers and keep people out of the site.
  • Answer the site phone as calls may come in overnight.
  • Be detailed, aware, and alert at all times.
  • Conduct walking patrols every hour, including walking up and down stairs and along fence lines.
  • Handle homeless persons with respect and care.
  • Understand the requirements for a firewatch detail.
  • Mix up stair walking on different floors throughout the shift.
  • Handle high-stress situations and difficult people.
