About The Position

Allied Universal is hiring a part-time Access Control Security Officer at a logistics and distribution location in Columbia, South Carolina. The officer will help secure the site by managing entry points, verifying credentials, monitoring access activity, and responding to alarm-related concerns. The role involves providing professional customer service, communicating clearly, and supporting a safe environment for employees, visitors, and business operations. The posted pay rate is $16.00 per hour. The listed schedule is Monday and Sunday, 5:00 PM–1:00 AM.

Requirements

At least 2 years of security-related experience.
At least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Applicants are subject to a background investigation in accordance with applicable laws.
Applicants are subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
State or local licensing may be required prior to employment.
A valid driver's license is required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

Provide customer service to clients, visitors, drivers, and delivery personnel by following site-specific access control procedures and policies and, when appropriate, carrying out emergency response activities.
Monitor and manage entry and exit points, verify credentials, maintain visitor and driver logs, and direct authorized individuals to designated areas.
Control access for deliveries, shipments, and vehicle traffic in accordance with site procedures, reporting unauthorized access attempts or unusual activity to appropriate personnel.
Respond calmly to incidents and critical situations, following established reporting and escalation procedures.
Conduct regular and random patrols of access points, loading areas, parking areas, and the business perimeter to deter unauthorized activity and identify security-related concerns.
