Security Officer Part Time Access Control
About The Position
As a part-time Security Officer in Birmingham, Alabama, you will serve and safeguard clients in industries including logistics and distribution. In this access-control role, you will monitor entry points, verify credentials, manage visitor access, and help maintain a secure environment for employees, drivers, and guests. You will provide customer service, communicate clearly, and use access-control technology to support daily operations. The role offers a shift-claiming platform for finding additional shifts. The scheduled hours are Monday, Thursday, and Sunday, 11:00 PM–7:00 AM. Pay is $15.24 per hour.
Requirements
- Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; armed roles require applicants to be at least 21.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Applicants are subject to a background investigation in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws.
- Applicants are subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
- Licensing requirements may apply under state or local laws and regulations and may be required before employment.
- A valid driver’s license is required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities
- Provide customer service to drivers, visitors, and employees by following security procedures and site-specific policies and, when appropriate, responding to emergencies.
- Monitor access points and verify credentials, visitor authorization, and delivery or pickup documentation according to site requirements.
- Control vehicle and pedestrian entry and exit at gates, docks, and other designated access areas, and maintain accurate access logs and records.
- Respond calmly and with a problem-solving approach to access-related incidents and critical situations, escalating concerns according to site procedures.
- Conduct regular and random patrols of access points, loading areas, parking areas, and the facility perimeter.
