About The Position

The Security Officer is responsible for maintaining safety and security by enforcing rules, investigating incidents, and responding to emergencies. This role requires physical capability, adherence to procedures, and the ability to handle various situations, including potentially dangerous ones. The officer will also be responsible for documentation and providing assistance as needed.

Requirements

  • Must have all state required permits.
  • High School Diploma, Weapons Permit, Active Guard Card, Baton Permit, and First Aid/CPR certifications are required at the time of appointment, or have the ability to obtain such permits within 6 months of appointment.
  • Must be able to speak, read, and understand the English language.
  • Current California driver license.
  • Strong verbal and interpersonal skills.
  • Attendance and punctuality are essential functions of the position.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a valid and active weapon permit to carry out job duties consistent with carrying a firearm.
  • Maintain proficiency with a firearm, including the ability to demonstrate proficiency upon request.
  • Ensure that established rules, regulations, policies and procedures are carried out at all times.
  • Physically pursue, detain and/or arrest a patron or employee.
  • Investigate accidents, thefts and disturbances.
  • Testify in court as needed.
  • Provide escorts as needed.
  • In the event of an emergency, ensure that established policies and procedures pertaining to safety and security are carried out.
  • Unlock appropriate doors for employees as needed.
  • Provide emergency first aid in appropriate situations.
  • Operate portable radio, electric cart, and parking lot transportation carts.
  • Drive a company-provided truck or other vehicle.
  • Hand-write incident reports.
  • Occasionally use a computer to complete incident reports.
  • Push an occupied wheelchair and/or carry one end of an occupied stretcher to transport patrons and/or employees as needed.
  • Lift a patron/employee into a wheelchair and/or stretcher as needed.
  • Complete continuing education and training during employment at a minimum of twice per year.
