About The Position

Commerce Casino is hiring a Security Officer. The role supports casino safety and security by enforcing established policies and procedures, responding to emergencies, investigating incidents, and assisting patrons and employees. Officers must maintain an active weapon permit and firearm proficiency, and may pursue, detain, or arrest individuals when necessary. The position requires standing and walking for shifts of eight hours or more, physical response to incidents, operation of security and transportation equipment, and completion of handwritten and occasional computer-based incident reports. The officer must be able to work full-time and overtime as required, with or without notice. Required permits and certifications must be held at appointment or, where specified, obtained within six months. Continuing education and training are required at least twice per year.

Requirements

High school diploma.
Required state permits, including a weapons permit, active Guard Card, and baton permit; permits must be held at appointment or obtained within six months of appointment, as applicable.
First Aid/CPR certifications required at appointment or the ability to obtain them within six months of appointment.
Ability to speak, read, and understand English.
Current California driver license.
Strong verbal and interpersonal skills.
Ability to maintain firearm proficiency.
Ability to lift and carry items weighing 0–100 pounds and to lift over 100 pounds when assisting a patron onto a stretcher or wheelchair.
Ability to push and pull items weighing 0–100 pounds, including exerting up to 75 pounds of pushing force to assist someone in a wheelchair.
Ability to walk and stand throughout shifts of eight hours or more and work in confined spaces.
Ability to physically pursue, capture, and detain individuals, including running across casino floors or parking lots in response to emergencies.
Ability to wear an equipment belt weighing approximately 10–12 pounds while on duty.
Ability to work full-time and overtime as required, with or without notice.

Responsibilities

Maintain a valid and active weapon permit and demonstrate firearm proficiency upon request.
Ensure established rules, regulations, policies, and procedures are followed.
Investigate accidents, thefts, and disturbances.
Pursue, detain, or arrest patrons or employees when necessary.
Testify in court as needed.
Provide escorts as needed.
Carry out safety and security procedures during emergencies and provide emergency first aid in appropriate situations.
Unlock appropriate doors for employees as needed.
Operate portable radios, electric carts, parking lot transportation carts, and company-provided trucks or other vehicles.
Hand-write incident reports and occasionally complete them using a computer.
Assist with patron or employee transport by pushing occupied wheelchairs, carrying one end of an occupied stretcher, and lifting people into wheelchairs or onto stretchers as needed.
Complete continuing education and training at least twice per year.
Maintain attendance and punctuality.
