About The Position

Perform general maintenance work to ensure hotel maintenance quality standards are achieved and maintained. This role involves troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, as well as assisting with preventative maintenance and refurbishing furniture and fixtures. The Hotel Engineer is also responsible for responding to guest requests, communicating with other departments, servicing the hotel's pool, and performing other assigned duties to ensure the smooth operation of the hotel.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in hotel operations or other commensurate experience.
  • Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Ability to communicate in English.
  • Self-starting personality with an even disposition.
  • Always maintain a professional appearance and manner.
  • Can communicate well with guests.
  • Willing to “pitch-in” and help co-workers with their job duties and be a team player.
  • Knowledge of the travel industry, current market trends and economic factors.
  • Extensive skill in MEP (mechanical/electrical/plumbing).
  • Ability to access, understand and accurately input information using a moderately complex computer system.
  • Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers and staff, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact, and diplomacy to diffuse anger, collect accurate information and resolve conflicts.
  • Ability to stand and move throughout the hotel property and continuously perform essential job functions.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair hotel malfunctions in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems (e.g., heat pumps, HVAC, plumbing, boilers, elevators) and other hotel equipment throughout.
  • Record all troubleshooting and repairs or replacement within the PM (Preventive Maintenance) System.
  • Assist with preventative maintenance and complete report work orders such as replacing ceiling tiles, light bulbs, patching vinyl, etc., to maintain the hotel and keep the product quality standard.
  • Refurbish furniture and fixtures within guest rooms such as cabinets, tables, chairs, doors, windows and counters.
  • Paint and finish furniture and fixtures if needed.
  • Perform preventative maintenance assignments on a scheduled basis (e.g., “room care”).
  • Assist with all I.T (Information Technology) when needed.
  • Respond in a courteous manner to all guest questions, complaints, and or requests to ensure strong guest satisfaction.
  • Communicate with Casino Engineering and all Hotel department heads to become aware of maintenance needs and ensure timely response to internal requests.
  • Service the hotel’s pool, including adjusting chemicals and cleaning filters; completing maintenance request forms and recording logs.
  • Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.
  • Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.
