About The Position

Allied Universal is hiring a part-time, unarmed Security Officer for a designated site in New York, NY. The position provides a fixed weekly schedule of anchor shifts, requiring a six-month commitment, with the option to claim additional shifts through the company’s scheduling platform. Hours may vary from week to week based on claimed shifts, with the opportunity to build up to a full-time schedule of up to 40 hours per week. The listed pay rate is $20.40–$21.40 per hour.

The role provides security presence and customer service for students, faculty, staff, visitors, and guests. Duties include following site procedures, responding professionally to incidents and campus concerns, conducting patrols, monitoring access points, and documenting observations. Requirements

• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Be at least 18 years old for unarmed roles; armed roles require applicants to be at least 21 years old.
• Submit to a background investigation as a condition of employment, in accordance with applicable laws.
• Submit to a drug screen as a condition of employment, to the extent permitted by law.
• Meet any applicable state or local licensing requirements, which may be required before employment.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, visitors, and guests by following site-specific procedures and policies and participating in emergency response activities when appropriate.
• Respond calmly and professionally to incidents, campus concerns, and critical situations; communicate observations and incidents according to site procedures.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of academic buildings, residence areas, common spaces, grounds, and perimeter areas to deter unauthorized activity and identify security concerns.
• Monitor access points and assist with visitor direction, credential verification, and access-control procedures in accordance with site policies.
• Prepare accurate reports and communicate with site leadership and appropriate campus personnel about incidents, hazards, and security-related observations.
